EQUIPMENT
The rising cost of sports equipment is a major barrier to participation, with studies showing that 1 in 5 underserved households cannot afford to get their kids involved in athletics. Our goal is to ensure equipment is never an obstacle. In 2024, we delivered 5,000 pieces of new and used sports equipment to 43 schools and 15 outreach organizations. Through our warehouse, we support Title 1 schools and our community partners, creating a more inclusive and active community for everyone.
WHERE IT GOES – BEYOND SPORTS WAREHOUSE
Middle School Sports: Imagine the frustration of coaching a volleyball team of 20 athletes with only a single ball, or the challenge of a soccer team forced to piece together mismatched uniforms. For too many middle school athletes, the experience is limited not by their talent, but by a lack of equipment. Some may never get the chance to discover a new sport because they lack the proper gear. Our warehouse serves as a hub, collecting and distributing a wide range of athletic equipment directly to schools in need. From new and gently used cleats to wrestling headgear and baseball gloves, we provide the necessary gear to elevate the middle school athletic experience. By supplementing school programs, we remove the financial obstacles that can keep a child on the sidelines.
Recess Bags: Active kids are often more engaged in the classroom. Yet for many students, recess isn’t a break filled with diverse sports and games. Instead, it’s a field trip to the blacktop with a single flat basketball for 25 kids. Have you ever wondered what resources teachers have for recess? Our recess bags solve this problem by providing a wide variety of balls, jump ropes, and other equipment. They break down financial barriers, giving all students the chance to be active and engaged, boosting their overall motivation.
Outreach Partners: Sports transcend language and cultural barriers. For youth moving to a new city, finding a connection can be a challenge. By providing sports equipment, we empower community organizations to expand their reach and give more young people the opportunity to participate, make friends, and feel a sense of belonging.
Police Department: For many children, the first time they meet a police officer is during a stressful or traumatic event. This program seeks to change that. By placing sports balls in every GPD patrol car, we create a simple but powerful tool for building positive connections. Officers can use this opportunity to initiate positive interactions with youth. These small, positive moments can have a lasting impact, fostering trust and showing young people that officers are approachable members of their community.
